Located in Tregunc(29910), Route du Phare de Pouldohan, near the shipyard "Chantiers Nautiques de Moulins Mer", IDB Marine is a shipyard directed by Denis BOURBIGOT (15 years of maritime experience spendt in sail charter management, offshore races, shipyards), whose main product is Malango.
Dry fibers (Glass fiber, carbon,...) are placed in mould, with core (Foam, Balsa,...). Recovered by a cloth and flexible bag, the infusion is then carried out.
The perfect control of the quantity of resin infused and the dry placement of cloths make it possible to obtain extremely homogeneous finished pieces, with perfect surface condition on the mould side. The weight variation of the piece is very small, a performance which is impossible to achieve with manual laminating.
The product used for the construction of laminated boats is polyester, composed of an unsaturated resin in solution in a styrene monomer. It is in very high concentration in the resin, between 30 and 45%. Dry drape forming does away with exposure to the resin, does not require special protection, mask, glove. The personnel are less exposed to styrene and the vapours of products such as acetone. During infusion and polymerization the styrene remains imprisoned in the bag, thus reducing the emission of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds)
