Located in Tregunc(29910), Route du Phare de Pouldohan, near the shipyard "Chantiers Nautiques de Moulins Mer", IDB Marine is a shipyard directed by Denis BOURBIGOT
(15 years of maritime experience spendt in sail charter management, offshore races, shipyards), whose main product is Malango.
Dry fibers (Glass fiber, carbon,...) are placed in mould, with core (Foam, Balsa,...). Recovered by a cloth and flexible bag, the infusion is then carried out.
The product used for the construction of laminated boats is polyester, composed of an unsaturated resin in solution in a styrene monomer. It is in very high concentration in the resin, between 30 and 45%. Dry drape forming does away with exposure to the resin, does not require special protection, mask, glove. The personnel are less exposed to styrene and the vapours of products such as acetone. During infusion and polymerization the styrene remains imprisoned in the bag, thus reducing the emission of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds)
The perfect control of the quantity of resin infused and the dry placement of cloths make it possible to obtain extremely homogeneous finished pieces, with perfect surface condition on the mould side. The weight variation of the piece is very small, a performance which is impossible to achieve with manual laminating.
Injection technology is the culmination of the process begun with the infusion . with the infusion, the outer part (the one in contact with the mold) is perfectly finished by the cons part in contact with the sheet must be coated, sanded and painted ...
Injection is to make the piece between two molds to achieve a perfect finish on both sides at once. This technique, which is controlled by a few large shipyards, requiring heavy investment (you have two molds ....) and most accurate realization of strict molds to ensure the thickness of the entrefert.
Unlike the infusion, the resin migrates from the periphery to the volumic center of the piece with a gap less extensive. The catalysis occurs in conditions equivalent but with a temperature maintenance more longer than during an infusion, ensuring a kind of cooking in the deck.
one feature of the injection performed in idbmarine is to have succeeded in creating an optimized entrefert. Decks made are more rigid and has the same weight than those in infusion and thez are ready to use...
The first application concerned the cockpit lockers (common to both malango), and now the deck of malango 999
in the photos below, it is a clear gelcoat that was used on the inner side of the deck malango 999 to validate the migration of the resin. For your information, the injection itself takes about one hour.
idbmarine can realize any kind of composite production with this process : contact us for more information
idbmarine can also perform operations such as the renovation of this Aphrodite 101
